Satin Dressed Victorian Tiled Floor

Stunning colours and intricate patterns is what makes this STRIKING yet beautifully aged Victorian tiled floor an eye-catching hallway.

If you’re lucky enough to own such a beautiful Victorian inspired feature in your home then it’s important to care for it correctly.

This Victorian tiled floor was previously covered with carpet which left glue residue along the edges.

These tiles, especially the yellow ones had ample amounts of ingrained dirt and many paint droplets.

Firstly, we needed to strip the floor using a specialist floor stripper in order to remove the glue. This is the most time-consuming part.

After the stripper has done its job, we moved onto the actual cleaning of the tiles.

After a thorough clean, we rinsed the floor to remove all debris, slurry and chemical residues.

We then placed an air mover to dry the floor throughout the night. This is important because victorian tiles are extremely absorbent and we need the floor to be as dry as possible when we apply the dressing.

When we returned the following morning, we applied the satin dressing which gives the floor a subtle gloss.
